"I have never seen another program that comes close to the financial, emotional and academic support that Act Six provides. Act Six staff provide us with every tool we need to rise up as significant influences in our campus and home communities."

Campus Support
Once on campus, faculty and staff mentors meet weekly with the cadres and regularly with each individual scholar throughout the first year. Mentors provide social support and connect students with campus resources. In addition, university and Act Six staff provide ongoing leadership training, internships, and career opportunities.
Proven Success
National data show that less than a third of all students from low-income families who start college ever graduate. The data are equally discouraging for students whose parents didn’t attend college and those from most underrepresented ethnic groups.
But local statistics for Act Six scholars tell a much different story: Act Six scholars represent six continents and speak 13 native languages. Two-thirds come from low-income families and most are the first in their families to attend college. Yet more than 90% of Act Six scholars who started the program are still enrolled or have graduated. And along the way, Act Six scholars and alumni are creating a legacy of distinguished leadership, service and academic achievement on campus and in the community.
